“Any organization who was found responsible for violating regulations will be held responsible," said Steven Priepke, senior associate dean of students and the founding father of UM's chapter of SAE.
“Greek Life is more than parties, booze and T-shirts,” said Cristina Luna, dean of the Association of Greek Letters Organization. “This session served as the first commitment to their new journey.”
Greek life at the University of Miami isn’t all about parties and formals. For some students who belong to professional fraternities, their organizations represent opportunities for career advancement and academic achievement.
"My brothers have always had my back," Alexander said of his time in a fraternity.
The national organization decided to suspend the UM chapter from campus for at least two academic years following a UM-led investigation into allegations of hazing and violations of university alcohol policy.

They say wisdom comes as you get older, but one UM student has learned some of the most important lessons from people much younger than him.
“It’s a word I’ve used a lot as a kid, but I realized the word ‘empire’ doesn’t align with my values in some sense just because, I suppose, being the product of a post-colonial country,” junior Tumi Lengoasa said.
UM administrators were once students, too. And yes, they were even involved in Greek Life at their Alma Maters. Now, they reflect on what Greek Life continues to mean to them.
