Hundreds to gather at UM for the Clinton Global Initiative

When President Shalala takes the stage Friday afternoon at the BankUnited Center for her opening remarks, she will be speaking to about a thousand students, hundreds of college presidents, and numerous international political leaders who have gathered for the highly anticipated Clinton Global Initiative University at Miami.

Another suspect arrested

Two early-morning arrests were made Saturday with 21-year-old Sebastian C. Brooks taken into custody at 1:30 a.m. at his North Miami home and 21-year-old Geneque Robinson being arrested at 5:52 a.m. in South Dade. The following Wednesday, Arsenio Darrin Carter was arrested at 2:53 a.m.

Armed robbery reported by Starbucks

On Friday morning, at approximately 12:08 a.m., the University of Miami Police Department issued an email to the university community stating that an armed robbery occurred in front of the Starbucks by the Otto G. Richter Library.

Charles Vignola, director of development for Jerry Bruckheimer Films and a 1988 University of Miami graduate, will visit the Coral Gables campus on April 6, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Learning Center room 230. The event will be open to everyone in the university community.

This Tuesday, the University of Miami’s Division of Continuing and International Education will host a free “law school insider” seminar to give attendees tips on applying for law school. This year, there will be representatives from the UM, Florida International University, University of Florida, George Washington University, American University, and others. The event will take place at 7 p.m. at LC 130.

Relay for Life imagines a world without cancer

Whether one decided to play a game of Plinko or play a round of “Rockband,” this past Saturday at Stanford Circle, they would be saving lives.

On Saturday, Stanford Circle will be covered in tents, food and members of the university community for the American Cancer Society’s 2010 Relay for Life.
