A new government is in power at the University of Miami. Following the Student Government Inauguration ceremony, senior Niles Niseem has entered the presidency joined by Vice President Angela Ansah and Treasurer Paige-Tatum Hawthorne.

In the face of America’s least affordable housing market and the debilitating price tag of a private education, some University of Miami students are struggling to make ends meet. To get by, many student’s hold on-campus jobs. These positions frequently pay just above Florida’s minimum wage. UM’s Student Government(SG) was on a mission to raise these wages, however, their efforts have been brought to a halt.

Do you know how to pay your taxes? How about investing in stocks? Know how credit scores and interest rates work? Or even how to open a savings account? If you answered no to any of those questions, you aren’t alone. In a 2022 Inside Higher Ed and College Pulse survey, only four in 10 college students called their financial knowledge “excellent” or “good.”

Cameron Mofid is no stranger to adventure. Whether it's flying over the Amazon rainforest in an air taxi or exploring nature and wildlife in Zimbabwe, Mofid has never let the unexplored deter him. He intends to travel to every country in the world, and he’s not too far away from reaching his goal having traveled to 119 of the world’s 195 countries.

Tents with free food and candy, flyers lining every breezeway around campus, and the sound of strident campaign promises can only mean one thing; election season is back at the University of Miami.

Documents signed by Fredrick Douglas and Martin Luther King Jr. A pair of shackles from the transatlantic slave trade. Signed albums from cultural groundbreakers. These are just some of the artifacts University of Miami students will be able to see at the Black History 101 Mobile Museum next week. The award winning collection will be on display on Feb. 9th from 10am-3pm in the Shalala Student Center Activities Room.

Current and future students at the University of Miami will have no choice but to become acclimated to a construction heavy campus. In the past ten years, the university has undertaken several projects including the Donna E. Shalala Student Center, the Lennar Foundation Medical Center, Lakeside Village and the currently unfinished Centennial Village.
