After having only two seniors on last year's team, the University of Miami men's basketball team will enter the 2020-21 season with six seniors on the roster.
Mompremier’s absence forced the Canes to rely on their four junior guards to carry the team for most of the year. With all four guards now having that experience heading into their senior season, Miami will be looking at this year's group of seniors to help the team return to the NCAA tournament.
"We offer just that: community," Atherley said. "That's what I'm really trying to build. A community, and a bridge to other black organizations on campus so we have more resources and are aware of things that are offered for black students at the U."
“I mean a little emotional, I’m not going to lie,” Vasiljevic said about making the game-winning free throws. “But for me to get on that free throw line and score the last point, means a lot. I trust in myself, I put in the work and I wanted everyone to know the game was over.”
Miami head coach Katie Meier's hopefulness for her team fell short Wednesday night in Greensboro, North Carolina, as her team lost to the Clemson Tigers 71-56 in the first round of the ACC tournament.
“That’s two wins in a row,” head coach Katie Meier said. “I think if you watched our team all year, we are playing our best basketball of the season right now.”
“I told the team after the game, winning is a lot more fun than losing,” Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga said after the game. “Not only winning but playing well, where you do the things you planned on doing, when you rebound really well and it’s a team effort.”
While students were at home feasting on Thanksgiving leftovers, the women's basketball team hosted a tournament at the Watsco Center this past weekend.
