With the end of the Sun Bowl came the beginning of new head coach Al Golden’s reign at the helm of the University of Miami football program. In the twenty days it’s been since Golden took over, there has been a buzz around the team, one that wasn't seen too often under former coach Randy Shannon.

The women’s basketball team is working their way into NCAA tournament discussions, currently riding a 17-game winning streak towards a No.22 ranking in the ESPN/Coaches Poll. The ranking marks the first time the Canes have been mentioned in the top 25 since May 2004.

In the first meeting in 20 years between Miami and Notre Dame, the Hurricanes struggled out of the gate, throwing four first-half interceptions en route to a 33-17 loss at the Hyundai Sun Bowl that wasn't even that close.

According to an ESPN.com report, Temple head coach Al Golden has accepted Miami’s offer to become the new leader of the Hurricanes football team. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet, but an official announcement is expected by UM as early as Monday.
