After enduring a blowout loss to Georgia Tech on Friday night, Canes baseball rebounded on Saturday with a blowout win of their own, celebrating Senior Night with a pre-game ceremony and a dominant 10-3 win over the Yellow Jackets.
On Sunday afternoon, the only Hurricanes to pass through Mark Light Field were donning pink uniforms in honor of Mother’s Day, but May showers drenched Coral Gables shortly after the series finale between UM and Appalachian State had begun.
With 13 games remaining in the regular season, consistency at the dish and on the mound will be crucial as the Canes look to ride a successful home stretch en route to the ACC Tournament.
“Three million people have died across the globe...That's three million people who were here this time last year, and now they're not. We wanted to sort of commemorate and recognize the fact that this has hit everybody.”
The Hurricanes got off to an encouraging 4-0 start Sunday afternoon versus the Pittsburgh Panthers, but they ultimately fell 12-5 in a blowout loss, resulting in a weekend series sweep.
“We’ve got some catching up to do and just winning two out of three and winning the series isn’t going to be good enough," Miami head coach Gino DiMare said. "When we have a chance, we’ve got to try to get the sweep."
After four consecutive matches away from the Knight Sports Complex, Miami volleyball returned to Coral Gables with a 10-6 overall record to close out its last two matches of the season.
Right out of the gates, the Canes were aggressive on the base paths and were able to put a run on the scoreboard despite not recording a hit in the inning.
