"It was a really special and inspirational performance [from Harden]," Miami head coach Katie Meier said. "She knew what was on the line. This was a separation game. It was one of those games where it could really help you or it could really hurt you."

"What a game and what a performance by Latasha Lattimore. I'm very happy for her and her double-double," associate head coach Fitzroy Anthony said. "We shared the ball really well and had 23 assists as a team. As a coach, that's really fun to watch and be a part of."

After unveiling the first Elite Eight banner in program history pregame, the Miami men’s basketball team got its regular season going with a 67-54 win over Lafayette on Monday night at the Watsco Center.

“During the first half, we were absolutely thrilled with our performance. The numbers kind of look the same, but I thought the first half was so much cleaner,” head coach Katie Meier said. We shared the ball and ran the floor and the defensive intensity was there. In the second half, we had a huge commitment to the glass and had a ridiculous amount of the offensive rebounds. It was a fun start.”

“I think we’ve got five, six, seven guys who can really put the ball in the basket,” Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga said. “So, it gives me confidence that if we can defend and rebound, that gives us a chance to be in good position at the end.”

In their second of eight straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) games, Miami is looking to improve to a winning record with a win against Duke this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.

His toughness, physicality and ability to run the floor could make him a valuable player on both sides of the ball. He possesses a soft touch in the paint and excellent defensive instincts. The center is also an excellent ball screen roller and a dangerous lob threat.

“I like the way we competed tonight,” Miami head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara said. “We were focused and composed from start to finish. North Carolina put a lot of pressure on our passers, but we hung in there and Savannah [Vach] was able to run our offense as planned.”

The University of Miami volleyball team dropped two matches over the weekend at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida. UM narrowly lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks, 3-2, on Friday before falling 3-1 to the No. 20 Oregon Ducks on Sunday.

After a 45-minute delay, the Miami Hurricanes (2-0-2) and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (3-1-1) came out anxious to play at Cobb Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Two impressive goals and a game-clinching save by goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais led to the Canes securing the win 2-1 and remaining undefeated.
