Adrienne Arsht, a University of Miami trustee and philanthropist, announced she will donate 5 million dollars to the university. Two million will go towards the University of Miami’s ethics programs and one million will go to the Hope for Vision program at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Oct. 19-25 is National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness week. This annual event takes place on more than 1,000 campuses across the country and aims to inform students about the legal, academic, and personal consequences of irresponsible alcohol consumption.

Political scholars Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein spoke to students and faculty in the Storer Auditorium Tuesday afternoon about the presidential candidates, their campaigns and trends in the political sphere of America. Former U.S. senator and Florida governor Bob Graham moderated the discussion, and a reception and opportunity to meet the speakers was held afterwards in Mahoney Residential College.
