A late Miami rally fizzled Saturday afternoon against the University of North Carolina, leaving the Canes one run short, losing 12-11.
With this and Friday’s 10-6 defeat, the Canes lost their first series of the season, but they clinched the ACC Coastal crown with their 12-2 win Thursday.
Hurricane pitchers held the No. 2 Tar Heels (45-10, 22-7 ACC) scoreless for the last four innings Saturday. But the offense was not able to pull off a win for the No. 1 Canes (43-8, 23-5 ACC), despite making a comeback from a 12-4 deficit in the top of the sixth inning.
