UMNEWS Calisto steps in as

Kelly Calisto, a freshman, was confirmed as the new Student Government (SG) Supreme Court chief justice at the Feb. 8 meeting of the SG Senate. Her appointment comes after former Chief Justice Annette Ponnock resigned from the post to run for SG president.

Ponnock said she asked members of the court to apply and that Calisto was the most qualified. She added that each applicant’s schedule, time on court and experience were among the factors that were used for selection.

According to Calisto, she has been on the court since fall 2005, sat on two trials and was on Youth Court for three years in high school.

“I would just like to thank Annette for her time on the court,” Calisto said. “I look forward to working with the court.”
