Miami, ranked as the No.13 team in the nation by the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 poll, is just over one week away from kicking off it’s home opener against Rutgers next Friday. Although the Canes are coming off a year in which seven former players left for the MLB, there is hope that this year’s team can be the first in four years to go back to Omaha.
In its first test against a school from a major conference, the University of Miami men’s basketball team prevailed against Rutgers Tuesday night by a final score of 74-57 for head coach Jim Larranaga’s second win with Miami.
For the first time since 1993 the Miami Hurricanes played consecutive extra inning games. On Saturday night, however, it was a different result from Friday night’s 2-1 victory.
The 23rd-ranked Hurricanes beat Rutgers 2-1 Friday night at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
