Eddie Pieron, a University of Miami senior from Woodland Hills, Ca., was found slain in his South Miami home on July 5. He was 21.

Alan Swan, a law professor at the University of Miami for the past 37 years, was killed June 8, 2008, in a hit-and-run accident.

Steven E. Chaykin, 57, died on Aug. 13, 2008, as he attempted to save his wife who had fallen in the Roaring Fork River near Aspen.
