BAGHDAD – Iraq’s cabinet overwhelmingly approved a security pact with the U.S. on Sunday, accepting the presence of U.S. troops until 2012. The deal detailing the conditions of U.S. presence still needs parliamentary approval, and lawmakers could vote as soon as Nov. 24.

It is rare in American electoral history that citizens get the opportunity to go to the polls and vote for a transformative figure. Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt, Kennedy and Reagan come to mind. Sen. Barack Obama is one of those transformative figures.

Many people aren’t sure what they want. On that same note, people are positive that they do not want any similarities to the previous eight years. John McCain is a significant break from President Bush. He has experience working with the Democratic Party and knows what it means to be centrist.
