If plans continue as scheduled, the Solomon G. Merrick Building will no longer be the only home to the School of Education. Part of the school will move across campus to the Max Orovitz Building, past Alex Rodriguez Park, to provide more space for graduate and research work.

Graduate students were dealt a blow when the University of Miami decided, in January, to suspend the Provost Travel grant, but the grant was recently substituted by the Graduate Research Supplemental Fund (GRSF), according to John Constantinide, parliamentarian of the Graduate Student Association (GSA).

No longer will graduate students be allowed to live there. A comment by the vice president for Student Affairs Patricia A. Whitely claimed that graduate students are more capable of finding off-campus housing than undergraduates. Let that sit for a moment.

Eighty additional beds in the four-story University Village complex will become available to undergraduate students this coming fall semester, as University of Miami administrators announced this week that graduate students will no longer be able to apply for housing there.
