Miami, ranked as the No.13 team in the nation by the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 poll, is just over one week away from kicking off it’s home opener against Rutgers next Friday. Although the Canes are coming off a year in which seven former players left for the MLB, there is hope that this year’s team can be the first in four years to go back to Omaha.

At the beginning of April, the University of Miami baseball team hit the road to take on Boston College and had two games postponed due to winter weather, forcing both teams to play a double header in order to complete the series.
The Hurricanes (17-11, 8-3) and Eagles (10-15, 4-7) were only able to play two of three scheduled contests against each other, squeezing in a double header on Sunday. Miami won both contests by scores of 19-4 and 7-6 respectively.
For the first time since 1993 the Miami Hurricanes played consecutive extra inning games. On Saturday night, however, it was a different result from Friday night’s 2-1 victory.
