For the academic year 2007-2008, the UMPD sent out five crime alerts. The largest amount of time between approximate time of crime to the alert being sent out was less than 48 hours. So far in the 2008-2009 academic school year, three have been sent out. One took two days, one took four and the most recent took almost a full week. That’s unacceptable.

Pata murder an ongoing investigation two years later
It has been two years since the murder of former University of Miami student and football player Bryan Pata, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Miami-Dade Police.
Pata, formerly a criminology major and defensive lineman for the Miami Hurricanes, was shot dead at the age of 22 outside his apartment complex on Nov. [...]

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed today that they have leads in the case of the dismembered crocodile found on the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus on Oct. 1.
