Editor-in-Chief: Stephanie Parra
Stephanie Parra is a senior majoring in journalism and political science, with a minor in French. She’s the editor-in-chief of The Miami Hurricane. She joined staff as quickly as she could as a freshman, and has worked as a copy editor, copy chief and news editor on the staff. In addition, she’s worked at places like The Miami Herald and the HOPE Center at UM Law, and her work has been featured in Distraction Magazine, Miami Magazine and SteveAoki.com. When her schedule isn’t so tight, she enjoys socializing, studying and skipping around the globe.

Alexander Gonzalez is a junior, majoring in English and completing the pre-medical track. He started as a reporter his freshman year and worked as an assistant editor during his sophomore year. He is the current news editor and enjoys the daily challenges of keeping up with the latest happenings on and off campus. Aside from The Miami Hurricane, Alex has researched with the English department, volunteered at hospitals and felt guilty about the occasional binge-watching session on Netflix. Though he hopes to attend medical school after graduating, he aspires to continue to work with a publication.

This is Lyssa’s third year with TMH. She started as assistant news editor a couple of months into her freshman year, and now she’s opinion editor as a junior. The Hurricane is where her heart is, but she has also contributed to other UM publications, such as Distraction Magazine, Miami Magazine, and The Communique. When she’s not busy writing, you can find her eating: In her spare time, she blogs for Short Order, the food blog of the Miami New Times.
Assistant Editor: Ashley Martinez
Ashley Martinez is a junior majoring in journalism and psychology, meaning she spends most of her time people-watching. She has worked as a staff writer, copy editor and is now the assistant editor at The Miami Hurricane. She serves as the president of UM’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Her work has been featured in The Hurricane, Distraction Magazine, The Communique, Gables Home Page and The Miami Herald. When she’s not working on a story, she loves going to the theatre and singing show tunes.
Online Editor: Alysha Khan
Alysha Khan is a senior at the University of Miami majoring in journalism and political science. Alysha has worked for The Miami Hurricane, the award winning student newspaper at UM since her freshman year, serving as news, enterprise, and online editor during her four-year stint. Her experience reporting on the UM community has allowed her to secure newsroom internships at The Miami Herald and the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Alysha also freelances as a graphic designer and photographer for several non-profits in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
Multimedia Editor: Erika Glass
Erika Glass is a junior majoring in broadcast journalism with a double minor in history and Italian. She joined The Hurricane her freshman year as a contributing writer has served as a copy editor. She is now the multimedia editor and manages tmhTV. She is also an assistant producer at WPBT-Channel 2 and one of the executive producers of SportsDesk, University of Miami’s on-campus sports show. On her downtime she enjoys going to the theater and watching television.

Danny Cepero is a Screenwriting and English Literature student at the University of Miami. He is working towards becoming a professional TV writer and producer. Ultimately, his goal is to create multiple TV series based on different world mythologies that will captivate and inspire audiences of all ages, but specifically children.
