Canes practice for upcoming exhibitions

With 8 days until the Miami basketball team’s first exhibition against St. Leo, and 15 until the season kicks off against Stetson, Coach Jim Larranaga continues to be pleased with how his team is progressing. Miami received 2 votes in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, the first time receiving votes in this poll since the 2008-2009 season.

Practice begins with more experienced roster

Johnson has every reason to be confident. The Hurricanes return nine scholarship players from the 2011-12 roster that accounted for 80 percent of the ‘Canes scoring, with the only departures being guard Malcolm Grant who is currently playing professionally in Cyprus, and swingman DeQuan Jones, who is currently seeking to land a spot on the Orlando Magic roster.

Change at the top leads to more questions around Canes

Less than 18 months into his stint at UM, Shawn Eichorst has resigned, midway through a compelling Hurricanes football season and with sanctions looming in the near future for the Miami athletic program. It is rumored that Eichorst has gone from a ‘’potential candidate’’ at Nebraska to a ‘’leading candidate’’ at the Big Ten school for their athletic director position.

Cardiac Canes, devoted fifth-year kicker deserve better from apathetic fans...

Sun Life Stadium was rocking on Saturday. Or at least, rocking more than it has been for a typical noon game against an average opponent in recent years. There was a different energy, a cautious optimism, that with a win against the Wolfpack, things could really get interesting for the ‘Canes. And they since have. Miami is 3-0 in the ACC for the first time since 2004, and 4-1 heading into a primetime showdown against Notre Dame at Chicago’s Solider Field this week, renewing a historic rivalry.
