January Nuggets

Earlier on Wednesday I had exclusive conversations with Darryl Sharpton and Jimmy Graham.

    Nuggets from Darryl:

    – Working on his foot work and ability to drop back in coverage

    – Being tutored by Dolphins linebackers coach Bill Sheridan

    – He had a one hour conversation with former UM linebacker Jon Beason

    – Really likes the progress he is making

    Nuggets on Jimmy:

    – He was raving about Tony Sparano’s teaching abilities.

    – Says Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates are his idols

    – Scouts love his hands and physicality

    – Working most on blocking, especially down field

    – Says he has not had much time to watch Canes basketball but he knows they are struggling right now. He says when he gets back to UM after the Senior Bowl he will talk to the young guys on the team.

    Women’s Basketball Nuggets:

Tough loss to Georgia Tech on the road as UM fell 80-73 on Wednesday night. The Lady Canes fall to 2-4 in the ACC. They led 13-2 out of the gates. They were down by six with 2:17 left in regulation and were able to force overtime. Clutch offensive rebounds by the Yellow Jackets were the difference. Canes play at Boston College on Sunday at 2 p.m. That game can be heard on 90.5 FM or wvum.org.

    Bold Prediction:

Lady Canes go to NCAA Tournament for first time since 2002.
